July 3, 2017 – Segment 1We hosted an archive edition of The Marc Steiner Show, in which writer of The Black Count: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, and the Real Count of Monte Cristo Tom Reiss and I talked about General Alex Dumas, hero of the French Revolution who was born to a Black slave mother and a fugitive white French nobleman in Saint-Domingue (present-day Haiti), and was father of the novelist Alexandre Dumas. The younger Dumas based his novel The Count of Monte Cristo on the life of his father.
