The Supreme Court ruled today on the Defense of Marriage Act, declaring a key provision of it unconstitutional. The Defense of Marriage Act barred the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages legalized by the states, and today, the Supreme Court struck that ban down. We are joined by Felipe Sousa-Rodriguez, co-director of GetEQUAL, a “national grassroots social justice organization whose mission is to empower the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community and allies to take bold action to demand full legal and social equality, and to hold accountable those who stand in the way.”
