We speak with participants of the Second Biennial Henrietta Lacks Symposium: The Dignity of Difference, which is happening at the University of Maryland Medical Center on Thursday, March 7th. We are joined by:
- Ron Lacks, grandson of Henrietta Lacks and co-founder of the HeLa Foundation, founded by Lacks family members to honor and continue the legacy of healing left by his grandmother;
- Bronwyn Mayden, Assistant Dean of the University of Maryland School of Social Work;
- and Rick Guidotti, photographer and founder of Positive Exposure, a nonprofit organization dedicated to highlighting the beauty of genetic diversity and challenging the stigmas associated with differences in appearance.
