Our panel of guests discusses the Black Girls Matter movement, Caitlyn Jenner and representations of trans women in the media, and the death of Mya Hall, the transgender woman killed outside of the NSA on March 30th. With: the Rev. Merrick Moise, ordained minister, writer, community activist and teacher, and one of the first African Americans ordained within the Old Catholic Movement in Baltimore; Dr. Tara Bynum, Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Towson University; Michelle Antoinette AKA LOVE the Poet, indie spoken word artist and musician, and author of Black Marks on White Paper; and Kalima Young, Director of the Baltimore Art + Justice Project, a project of the Office of Community Engagement at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Dr. Kaye Whitehead is Assistant Professor of Communication and Affiliate Assistant Professor of African and African American Studies at Loyola University Maryland, and the author of several books, including the recently released Letters to My Black Sons: Raising Boys in a Post-Racial America, and the award-winning Notes From A Colored Girl: The Civil War Pocket Diaries of Emile Frances Davis.
