We have a special preview of a performance that premieres this Saturday night at Morgan State University, called Mother’s Lament. Mother’s Lament is a multimedia performance honoring the lives of people who have been killed by gun violence. We talk with: Vincent Stringer, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts at Morgan State University and Coordinator of Vocal Studies and Artistic Director of Opera at Morgan State University and Baltimore Summer Opera Workshop, and Librettist for Mother’s Lament; Dr. James Lee III, Associate Professor of Theory at Morgan State University and Composer forMother’s Lament; and Kathryn Cooper-Nicholas, Founder and Executive Director of Sisters Saving the City, whose son Andre Nicholas was killed in 2014.
The Freedom, Love and Light Project will present the premieres of “Songs of Love and Loss” and “Mother’s Lament” this Saturday at 8:00 PM at the Murphy Fine Art’s Center.
