In light of the announcement last week by Governor Larry Hogan and Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake that Baltimore City plans to demolish some 4000 vacant buildings over the next four years, we host a roundtable discussion on housing demolition and “urban blight.” Our panel of guests includes: Dr. Raymond Winbush, Research Professor and Director of the Institute for Urban Research at Morgan State University and author of Belinda’s Petition: A Concise History of Reparations for the Transatlantic Slave Trade; Quincy Gamble of OneBaltimore;Dominque Stevenson, Program Director for the American Friends Service Committee and co-author with Eddie Conway of Marshall Law: The Life and Times of a Baltimore Black Panther; and Gerald Neily, writer at Baltimore InnerSpace and former transportation planner for the Baltimore City Department of Planning.
