September 30, 2015 – Segment 1
We hold a discussion on expungement of criminal records, as a new law goes into effect on October 1 that allows for expungement and/or shielding in certain cases. The first Maryland Expungement/Shielding Clinic, open to the public, will take place on October 1.
With: Caryn Aslan, Senior Policy Advocate for the Job Opportunities Task Force; Maryland State Delegate Curt Anderson, Chairman of the Baltimore delegation; and Michael Pinard, Co-Director of the Clinical Law Program at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and the UMD School of Law Reentry Clinic.
On October 1 2015, 8am-4pm (first session 8am-12noon, second session 1pm-4pm) at the New Psalmist Baptish Church, statewide partners to include the Job Opportunities Task Force and the MD School of Law Reentry Clinic will assist Marylanders adversely affected by a criminal record to determine which charges are eligible for expungement and/or shielding and assist with completing court forms. Marylanders with criminal records (both convictions & non-convictions) seeking to have dated records “expunged” and/or shielded are encouraged to attend. Click here for more information.
