July 4, 2013 – Segment 2
We talk to filmmaker Ryan Coogler about his compelling new film Fruitvale Station, based on the true story of Oscar Grant, the 22-year-old Oakland, CA, man killed by a BART police officer on New Year’s Day 2009.
The film debuted at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award for U.S. Dramatic Film. It will be released in select theaters July 12th.
