March 27, 2013 – Segment 1We discuss issues concerning education with a roundtable of educators. We’ll talk about school closings in Baltimore and beyond, standardized testing, and how people are trying to change the education system. We will also hear about an upcoming series of actions in Washington, DC called Occupy the Department of Education. Joining us are:
- Dr. Morna McDermott, one of the administrators for United Opt Out, and has been in education and teacher eduction for 25 years, and is a co-organizer of Occupy the Department of Education;
- Shaun Johnson, teacher educator and former public school teacher, blogger and co-host of At The Chalk Face, and co-organizer of Occupy the Department of Education;
- Dr. Roni Ellington, Associate Professor of Mathematics Education at Morgan State University’s School of Education and Urban Studies and Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Math & Science Education;
- and Paul Lemle, Howard County high school teacher and Howard County Education Association member.
